Hello, we’re John and Kelly. Welcome to our travel blog/webpage. We set up this site to document the 10 month trip we are taking to visit previously unseen areas of the Globe. After living in Baltimore for 5 years while Kelly did her doctorate work and John rocked out and plugged shit in, we decided it was time for something new. So we fixed up our house and sold it (in this housing market you ask?!). Kelly lined up a job in Seattle starting in 2009, and we bought some one-way tickets to Hawaii. While we loved Baltimore, and the close proximity to all of our friends in the the greater Maryland area (including many a member of the St. Mary’s diaspora), where we have lived all of our lives, we decided it was time to do something new and exciting before we become (more) old and boring. So this trip is sort of the kickoff to this next phase of our lives.

When we first explored the idea of taking an extended voyage we were very much inspired by the journeys many of our friends have taken over the last several years. These people provided the seed and helped germinate our plans with their stories and pictures.

So now, after a few months of planning and saving a few extra funds living with our parents, we are finally on the road, starting with a road trip to the South West US, New Orleans and Jazzfest, and finally to Hawaii, Fiji, Southeast Asia and beyond. This site will hopefully help us document our journeys, with alot of pictures, some maps and maybe a few writings if we feel inspired.
